We once again attended the New Year's Eve dinner at Tarr Farm Inn, our fourth year in a row of doing so and once again it didn't disappoint. Hillary and team provided a great experience with sumptious five course dinner and Champagne at midnight. Food was beautifully prepared and presented and service as always was excellent. Sadly this was a shorter stay but it was to be able to wake up on New Year's Day to the sound of the river and enjoy a walk (please be aware the circular walk is currently closed due to the bridge at the return point being condemned due to structural failure) but you can still walk up either side and we walked on to the new footbridge a further half mile or so. We look forward to returning to the Inn in February when we visit Snowdrop Valley and have already booked for next NYE when we look forward to a longer stay. Thanks to all the team for another great experience.

This lovely old hotel is set within the Exmoor National Forest and sits in an elevated position, overlooking the ‘Tarr Steps’, an ancient stone clapper bridge. We stopped here for a drink after doing one of the circular Tarr Steps walk along the Barle River. It was a beautiful, warm afternoon so we sat outside in the terraced garden area, enjoying the views of the bridge and surrounding farmland. The owner/manager was very friendly and even though we were only stopping for a drink, she made us feel very welcome and told us a little about the curious ‘money tree’ we’d spotted during our walk through the riverside woodland. It was a very pleasant spot to sit and soak up the atmosphere after our walk.

We enjoyed the circular walk around Tarr Steps and took a chance to call in to this fabulous pub/restaurant. They were busy but found a place for us. Wonderful atmosphere where dogs are welcome and get a towel to dry them off. Roaring fire and an amazing cream tea! Two huge scones with tons of delicious clotted cream and jam. More than enough in fact we shared. Highly recommended, great price, friendly staff. Other food looked brilliant too.

Einziger Kritikpunkt: das Bett war viel zu weich und man hat tw die Federn der Matratze gespürt.

Stopped for a beer last night and ended up with a portion of chips as well! Chips were excellent. Have been many times but not left a review. Will be back soon for a bar snack!

We stayed in the double room very clean and tidy with all the added touches and fresh milk in the fridge the bed was incredibly comfortable although we felt this particular room could do with a little updating in the bathroom but all in all would certainly book this stay again

Peaceful stay at this friendly Inn where nothing is too much trouble for the team. Great room, secure parking and the food.... the best we have tasted anywhere in a long term. Beautiful cooked and presented with fish specials every night to chose from. Hilary and her team are so welcoming and friendly. It was lovely to be able to wander down to the Steps in the evening after dinner and have them all to ourselves. Highly recommend as a base to explore this beautiful part of the world. Oh and don't miss having a cream tea. The best.

Brilliant pub, all our food was delicious and came out quickly. Staff were particularly friendly and welcoming. Really beautiful setting after a walk around the river nearby. Pretty setting inside and out to sit. Definitely recommend a visit.

This place is amazing. We return time after time for the excellent service, outstanding scenery, fab fresh food and stylish rooms. Popular with tourists, walkers, dogs, locals. Cannot recommend this place too highly.
