I stayed here on my own as a last minute night away. The room was so comfortable, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the food was great. I always feel nervous on my own but it felt safe and welcoming and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

A post of two half's, firstly, the pub is a pub, not a restaurant that sells beer, and a lot better because it is. The bitter that is brewed in the cellar is great, had a table for 6, the food was great, the service even better. A lovely family meal. The accommodation was lovely, very nice comfortable room, the breakfast was great as well, cooked and served by Matt, a really nice guy, we will be back soon, thank you

Absolutely the best roast dinner I have had, staff were really lovely and food arrived promptly piping hot, all fresh , tender meat and yummy gravy. Great value too. They fitted us in last minute despite being very busy. Highly recommended, the other meals coming out looked excellent too. Thank you we will be back . Alisa and friends plus 3 happy dogs

We stayed one night as very local to family we were visiting. Plenty of parking. The room was lovely. We ate elsewhere in the evening as family had arranged but we had full English breakfast. Freshly prepared though my poached egg was over. Weather was dreadful and would have been useful to have coat hooks on back of door for wet coats. Didn't want to put them in wardrobe. Vinyl flooring in room which is practical but recommend you take slippers to keep bare feet clean after having a shower. Staff and locals very friendly. Will definitely stay again but will take my slippers.

We stayed at The Canal Inn on a two-night break whilst visiting the local area. It was easy to find, about five minutes off the A6, and there was lots of free parking available. We checked in at the bar and our room was room 1, the biggest I believe, in what I assume was an annex built on to the back of the pub. It was a very large room with a particularly large bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean as well as well equipped. The bed was extra large and very comfortable and the all important wi-fi worked well! We had our evening meal in the pub and it was of a very good quality, washed down by beers brewed on the premises. Breakfast on both mornings was very good too, including a full English which set us well for the day ahead. Finally, just to say that the staff we met were all very friendly and helpful which is always a major plus point such that I'm sure we'll stay at The Canal again next time we're in the area.

Lovely room. very comfortable bed, quiet, lovely area, lovely breakfast sandwich for breakfast, staff were lovely.
