Lovely to sit in the wonderful sunny garden at the Wheelwrights again. Perfect spot with great views and a very pretty garden. Delicious fish finger baps from the new menu. Service very good and always welcomed by James. Enjoying the Budvar in the chunky glasses

The food was lovely, we ordered fish and chips, steak and ceasar salad. Service was immaculate. James was very helpful with our gluten free order, zach was very friendly behind the bar and kept checking that we were ok for drinks. Congrats to new chef Ben. Very happy to have the local pub back opened with lovely new interior and a delicious new menu.

We went to the pub today for lunch with dear friends we hadn't seen for some time. The village of Monkton Combe is worth a visit. Beautiful scenery, perfect for a walk. We ordered a few starters: burrata with beetroot and rhubarb, and cheese balls, which are crispy on the outside with a delicious creamy cheese filling! We all had the roast: nut roast for me, which was very tasty. Our friends ordered pork and beef, cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had cherry ice cream, refreshing and flavoursome. The service was extremely pleasant, especially from the young waiter who served us. He was attentive, clearly explained the dishes, and told us a bit about the village. It's great to see a pub with people who really care about the quality of the food and service. Highly recommend!!

From the moment we booked our stay, Jack made us feel so welcome. Before we arrived Jack provided us with useful information about the area ( pubs for food as the pub itself was closed for refurbishment.) We tried 2 out of the 3 recommended and they were great, both delicious good, great service & locations. Jack made us feel so welcome and went out of his way for us to be comfortable during our stay. We were feeling a little under the weather so he made us fresh immune boosting juice alongside our continental breakfast, as well as cooking us fresh bacon and eggs. Jack made himself available for anything we might need during our stay, and couldn't have done more to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The room was beautiful, comfortable and spacious with everything we could need. We look forward to returning in the summer months when the pub is refurbished. Well worth a visit, Thanks Again Jack. Visited in May 2022 and have meant to review since then. Beautiful inn, beautiful location. The room was stunning, and there was a great menu for both food and drinks. Even better were the vast gluten free options. I understand that they are no longer doing food however this is worth going to if you are planning a break in Bath. There is a bus service goes from Monkton Combe to Bath.

Booked a table for 7:15 - service was a little slow but main courses were good. At 8:25 we asked if we could order desert only to be told that the kitchen had closed for the night! Won’t be coming here again.

Booked for Sunday lunch at 12:45pm, and although food was OK we were disappointed to learn that the "Summer Roast" menu had started that day - so new potatoes instead of Roasties, limited veg (unless you liked roasted onions, and only two meat dishes to choose from - neither of which were carved roasted meat. This was disappointing because we received a very reassuring phone call when we had booked online to confirm that my Wife's dairy allergy could be catered for by leaving off any yorkshire pudding but she could have extra roast potatoes instead. Obviously the person did not realise the change in menu, and unfortunately the summer menu doesn't contain either yorshire puds or roast potatoes. As it happens, Carol was told on arrival that of the two meat dishes on offer she could only have one of them ( a pork chop) BUT she couldn't have any potatoes because the new potatoes were cooked in butter. Although the pub volunteered a discount for the lack of potatoes - it was not the experience we had hoped for. Booked Customers arriving half an hour after us were told there was no pork available, and therefore had a choice of one meat dish on the menu. Shame because it is a nice venue, and staff provided good service.

Simply the best customer focus ever. Food was cooked fresh as ordered, and very tasty. The Canadian owner and his team bend over backwards to make your stay so memorable. James we think the manager, even popped over to our outdoor table before Sunday lunch to have a friendly chat. Our room (7) was stunning, a real Farrow and Ball neutrals feel. Recently refurbished, it was large, roomy and so so clean and fresh. We had a lovely view across countryside from the door to a private stairway to the car park. They think of everything! In our wardrobe was a large floor standing fan which was very much appreciated as it was very hot and humid. Hubbys wallet fell out of his pocket and the our Canadian host carried it across to our room before we were about to leave, despite the fact he was serving breakfasts! We then had a call on returning home, to say his housekeepers had found a brolly in the room, and he would wrap and dispatch that afternoon as he had business in town. It arrived today! We have never had service quite like this since we stayed at Raffles Hotel in Singapore in 1981! Thank you sincerely to you all.
