Room was basic but functional. It lived up to my expectations. Ideal for an overnight stay. Shower was warm and practical.

Yha Hawkstead is a great location for a camping trip. There is a massive lawn area to camp, with several small wooded areas around the site for privacy and to let the children explore. Well equipped site, with heated outdoor toilet/shower blocks. Inside the hostel maintains much of the gradure of the past, several big rooms for children and families to use. 2x games rooms, a big self cook kitchen, two big dining areas. Parking is good and only a mile away is Hawkshead village with various shops, pubs & children's park. The hostel offers a range of indoor/ outdoor accommodation as well as pitch up camping. We will be returning.

The indoor shower was locked with out notice for some exclusive use and every other visitor are forced to use outdoor shower, During check in or booking this was not communicated at all. The WiFi and Network are pretty terrible. So better take some other form of networks.

We had an excellent experience during our stay. The place is clean, the staff really helpful and friendly, the surrounding area was peaceful and beautiful. All other guests also really mindful, made all of sharing area experience become comfortable.

店员は亲切で、サービスは良かったです。场所はホークスヘッドから20分ほど歩くため、体力がある人におすすめです。また、アクセスはウィンダミアからフェリーを使うといいと思います。

The room was bit dirty, particularly the shower. Definitely bring flip flops. I felt safe throughout the experience (I am a 16 year old girl). The continental breakfast wasn’t bad (apart from the near stale bread.) Good value for money. Not too long a walk from the village.

Sorry to say this venue is not up to the standard Ive previously experienced in YHA. The property is in serious need of some money spending on it. It is old and tatty (and not clean). We stayed for one night in a room in the house ("a former Regency Mansion"!). The place is grubby at best. Peeling paintwork, rotten wood work, dirty toilets and showers (luke warm water) etc etc. When we stayed the place was full to capacity (140 people). And I suspect it is like this in the Lake District throughout the summer and maybe longer, so I am sure the YHA Finance Director is not keen to spend money here when the unit is at full occupancy (and getting positive TA scores!) - but it really does let the brand down. I will say the staff were very welcoming, happy and smiley Wont be staying again I'm afraid - and it will make me think twice about other locations too....

Thank you for your honest feedback, the hostel can get bit under the weather when we are full. We do try and keep on top of cleaning and do regular rounds around the communal bathrooms and spaces during the evening to keep it as clean as we can.

A bit remote from the Hawkshead bus station(25 minutes walk), enjoyed the view on the way though. Limited sockets in the room. Great kitchen and dining room. Helpful and warm staff.
